Contra Costa County Bikes for TykesBikes for Tykes

For over 20 years, Contra Costa County Firefighters have been running a program called Bikes for Tykes. The Bikes for Tykes program began with an engine company crew in Martinez that would rebuild bikes for some of the less fortunate neighborhood kids and giving them away at Christmas. Over the years, the program has grown to giving out nearly 500 new bikes a year to various organizations, schools, local children, and Children’s Hospital of Oakland.

The entire program is run entirely by off duty firefighters. They volunteer their time, money and vehicles to purchase, pick-up, assemble, safety check, and deliver the bikes and helmets throughout our communities.

Thank you for your consideration in helping keeping this program alive.
