Boston Firefighters Mourned In Contra Costa County

boston_fd_LODD_logoUnited Professional Firefighters of Contra Costa County mourn with our Brothers and Sisters from Boston Firefighters Local 718 who suffered a tragic loss today, losing two of their own on a 9 alarm structure fire. While the details are still unclear, what will always be clear is the ever present danger and the complete and utter loss for words that every firefighter in Contra Costa County has at this moment.

We are reminded of our own loss in 2007 and were grateful for the outpouring of support that came, including Firefighters from Boston who not only mourned with us from Boston, but travelled to California to offer their assistance, stand beside us and attend Captain Burton and Engineer Desmond’s Memorial Service.

We stand by our Brothers and Sisters in Boston, mourn their losses and honor them by continuing to jump on the Engine every time the bells ring, remembering those who have gone before us and mindful of the danger that lay ahead.

Rest in Peace Lt. Edward J. Walsh and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy
