Early Morning Rescue in Antioch on October 27th, 2011

In the early morning hours of October 27th a residential structure fire occurred in Antioch. Alarm came in at 0038 hours in Station 81's area. Upon arrival Engine 81 had heavy smoke & flames coming from the front of the structure and immediately went to work. After a quick knock down and a primary search a victim was located by Firefighter Cahill. The victim was found unconscious and with agonal respirations. The victim was quickly removed by Cahill and the crew from Engine 85. The patient had sustained burns to over 40% of his body. The victim was quickly transported to Sutter Delta where physicians worked to stabilize him and then taken to the burn unit in San Francisco. The quick and aggressive actions taken by all the units on scene are a testament to the dedication of those in our profession.
