Once again this year, your local firefighters will be out raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Fill the Boot Charity Drive. We will be in Pleasant Hill on Wednesday, November 8th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the intersection of Contra Costa Boulevard and Concord Avenue. So far this year generous donors like you have graciously donated over $50,000 to this worthwhile cause and will assist many families here in Contra Costa County.
What is the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)?
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world's leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases.
How Fill the Boot Helps?
Every year, tens of thousands of people visit MDA's nationwide network of 200 clinics, including 44 MDA/ALS centers, where they receive expert care from muscle disease specialists. MDA also provides annual occupational, physical, respiratory or speech therapy consultations. Annually the MDA sends more than 3,600 youngsters with muscular dystrophy to accessible MDA summer camps across the country, at a cost to MDA of $2000 per camper. There is no charge to families.
Thank you again for helping support the MDA and the Fill the Boot Charity Drive!
