Introducing the California Firefighters Endowment

Honoring the memories of our fallen brothers and sisters is a central part of the unshakable bond we all share as firefighters. When one of our brothers or sisters falls in the line of duty, their family becomes our family. But for the children of fallen firefighters, the loss of a parent steals more than just a loving embrace. Often, losing a parent can steal a child's dreams for the future.

The California Fire Foundation was created by California Professional Firefighters, in part, to keep these dreams alive. That is why the Foundation has created the California Firefighters Endowment, and your assistance will be critical to its success.

The California Firefighters Endowment's founding mission is simple: help make it possible for every child of a fallen firefighter to attend the college of their choice.

Currently, the California Fire Foundation presents grants of up to $2,000 to the children of fallen firefighters through the Daniel A. Terry Scholarship Program. We are proud of this program, but as higher education costs continue to skyrocket, we all know that this is not enough.

By creating an endowment, the Foundation hopes to build a permanent financial base for our families and substantially boost the amount available for their children. In fact, if we can build an endowment of $2 million over the next five years, we will be able to offer scholarships of up to $10,000 per student.

To raise enough money, expanding our contacts is key, and you can be instrumental in helping us with that. This link will take you to information and a video about the Endowment. We ask that you share this with individuals, businesses and other potential benefactors in your area. You may also contact our Foundation Director, Vanessa Errecarte, at [email protected] for more information.

In addition to this outreach, we want to give you the opportunity to be recognized as one of the first supporters of the California Firefighters Endowment.

Clicking this link will allow you to make your own donation to the future of our fallen firefighters' children. You can also forward this email to family and friends with a request that they consider taking part.

If every person that receives this email makes a tax deductible donation of $25, and can get two additional contacts to donate $25 in the next two weeks we will be 20% of the way to our goal by the new year! What a great jump start to a program that will mean so much to the families of our fallen.

Thank you for being amongst the first to help with this cause and giving these children the opportunity to keep their dreams alive. We will be providing workshops and hosting events in the coming months with opportunities to become more involved in this new venture. Please stay tuned as we send information your way.

And... on behalf of the Board of Directors of the California Fire Foundation and the Executive Board of California Professional Firefighters, I wish you a safe and happy holiday season with your family.
