Fresno Fire Captain Critically Burned in House Fire Sunday

On Sunday, March 29th, 25 year veteran Fresno (CA) Fire Department Fire Captain, Pete Dern was rescued by fellow firefighters after falling through a burning roof at the scene of a house fire. Fire Captain Pete Dern was transported to the hospital in critical condition after suffering second and third degree burns on at least 65 percent of his body. Line of Duty Death Notification: San Jose Captain Jose Martinez


San Jose Firefighters, is saddened to announce the line-of-duty death of Captain Jose Martinez. Captain Jose Martinez, passed away on August 10th, 2012 after a couple of months of being diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer (Synovial Sarcoma). Captain Jose Martinez was 41. He is survived by his wife Melissa, son Jonah Miguel, 8 yrs old, and twin girls Sofia Maria and Olivia Eleanor, just 3 weeks old. It is with a heavy heart that the Arcadia Firefighters Association, Local 3440 announces the passing of Fire Captain II Andy Troncale.   After a valiant battle, Captain Troncale succumbed to the effects of job-related advanced stage colon cancer on January 23rd.  He was 52.  Captain Troncale served the citizens of Arcadia with honor and distinction for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2009 after being diagnosed.
