Cancer Awareness Charities

Every year during the month of October members from our agencies wear pink shirts to show their support towards cancer awareness.

Contra Costa County Bikes for Tykes

For over 20 years, Contra Costa County Firefighters have been running a program called Bikes for Tykes. The Bikes for Tykes program began with an engine company crew in Martinez that would rebuild bikes for some of the less fortunate neighborhood kids and giving them away at Christmas. Over the years, the program has grown to giving out nearly 500 new bikes a year to various organizations, schools, local children, and Children’s Hospital of Oakland.

Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)

Funds are raised every year from the Fill the Boot Campaign. MDA is a nonprofit dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. MDA also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.

National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

"Our mission is to honor and remember America's fallen fire heroes and to provide resources to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives."

Project Pink Wheels

Project Pink Wheels was designed to show support for all those touched by cancer. While the color pink symbolizes breast cancer, our intention is to include all cancers in this project. Our goal is to provide a show of support to those touched by cancer within our community.

Supporting our Veterans

Local 1230 started a new shirt campaign in 2016, during Fourth of July, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day, our on-duty members wear camouflage shirts to show their support for our veterans. Local 1230 sells camouflage shirts to the public for each district to raise money for veterans.

Widows and Orphans Program

Funds raised for the Widows and Orphans Program go toward the families of our fallen brothers and sisters. The funds are used toward services, flowers, and burial expenses.
